RETRO FISH TOA 5'6" - RIBS & SPINE CONSTRUCTION


Ribs Construction (Work time - 5 hours)
After having printed and cut out all the frame templates :
_ to glue them directly on plywood
_to use jig saw for cutting curves shape and to prepare inserts for spine and long reinforcement.
_to drill holes to reduce structure weight

Spine Construction (Work time - 1 ½ hours)
Spine is obtained from two layers of 3mm marine ply, as follow:
_to cut roughly n°2 spine profile and glue together to obtain a 6mm marine spine.
_to glue spine template directly on plywood
_to use jig saw for cutting curves shape and to prepare insert for ribs interfaces.
_to drill holes to reduce structure weight


To reach the designed shape of each frames and spine is necessary sand away any roughness created by the blade.


Top Tips_
To use a blade for cutting steel for jig saw operations
To lose no time, trying to get as close to the line as possible using jig saw.
The smoother your template, the better chances You have of building a good surfboards.

As you can see, pictures below show ready template having smooth curve without dips.
